The Department of Government Efficiency or DOGE, although not an official United States government department, has garnered a significant amount of traction ever since its quasi-inception.
Trump’s New Appointment To DOGE
The idea that was pioneered by billionaire and head of Tesla, X and SpaceX was brought to a near reality when Donald Trump, who won the 2024 US presidential election put Elon Musk and former Republican presidential hopeful Vivek Ramaswamy (also a billionaire) in charge of the Department Government Efficiency or DOGE.
Ever since the creation of this purported department, there have been promises and rumblings over the functioning of the department. Both Musk and Ramaswamy have underscored certain aspects of the US government’s expenditure and have gone on to cut those expenses.
Katie Miller To Join DOGE
In the middle of all of this, another development merged, when Donald Trump took to X add another member to this department.
In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, the incoming president said, “Katie Miller will soon be joining DOGE! She has been a loyal supporter of mine for many years and will bring her professional experience to Government efficiency. Katie is a deeply experienced communications professional respected by all. Congratulations to Stephen and Katie!”
Katie Miller is the spouse of Trump loyalist and ultra-right conservative Stephen Miller. Miller has been appointed by Trump as United States Homeland Security Advisor and the White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy.
Musk and Ramaswamy Stay Silent
While, these appointments or nominations have become routine over the past few week, ever since Trump was projected to take the White House, this new appointment has an interesting element attached to it.
It the silence of DOGE’s co-chair, Elon Musk. Musk, who is known for his incessant use of his social media platform X, is yet to make a comment, acknowledging the announcement. Another conspicuous absence is the lack of reaction from the other co-chair, Vivek Ramaswamy, who is also yet to say anything on the matter.
