The administration of US President Donald Trump has issued an announcement to remove 2,000 employees of the US International Development Agency (USAID) and send thousands of other employees on leave.

Earlier, Alan Musk had sent an email to millions of American federal employees. Within 48 hours, these employees had to explain what they did to reduce extravagance last week. It is important that Trump has made Musk the head of the Government Efficiency Department. Musk has been tasked with reducing government spending and curbing extravagance.

What was USAID employees told?

The step has been taken by a federal judge on Friday after the administration was allowed to lay down USAID employees. This has been said in a media report. US District Judge Carl Nichols rejected the government’s request to temporarily stop the government’s plan.

The notification sent to USAID employees also states that from February 23, at 11:59 pm, all employees working directly in USAID will be sent on administrative leave, except mission-based necessary works, major leadership and special Employees involved in the designated programs.

Administration’s tough stand on USAID

The Trump administration has already closed the Washington Headquarters of USAID and has stopped thousands of US aid and development programs globally. President Donald Trump and his budget reformer Alan Musk say that foreign aid and development work promotes unnecessary expenses and liberal agendas.

Concern for employees

USAID employees, especially employees deployed abroad, expressed concern about their safety and communication facilities before the government. In this regard, Judge Carl Nichols said that the administration has assured them that emergency communication facilities will be provided to the personnel deployed abroad. Under this, mobile applications with two-way radio and panic button facility will be available.

USAID contractors also damage

Hundreds of USAID contractors have also been fired suddenly. Many of them have been sent anonymous dismissal letters. Employees expressed concern that such vague notice could make it difficult for them to get unemployment benefits.
