Kota: Doctors at Kota Medical College allegedly operated on the father of an accident victim instead of him. Manish sustained injuries after he met with an accident. He was brought to the hospital and his surgery was scheduled to take place on Saturday,

According to reports, he also called his paralysed father to the hospital as there was no one in the house to look after him. Manish explained that he was inside the operation theatre and his father was waiting outside. However, when he came out he saw stitches on his father.

“I met with an accident and got hurt. I called my father. My father is paralysed, and there is no one to look after,” the patient told ANI. “I was to be operated on Saturday, so I asked my father to sit and wait outside the operation theatre,” he added.

“I don’t remember the name of the doctor who operated on me. I am also lying around in this condition. What can I do?” Manish told reporters.

Probe Ordered:

Kota Medical College Hospital principal Dr Sangeeta Saxena took cognizance of the incident and ordered an inquiry into the matter. “ I have asked the superintendent to form a committee and submit a report within 2-3 days. They have formed a three-member committee… They will inquire and inform what happened,” she told ANI.

According to a report published by Rajasthan Patrika, it was a case of mistaken identity. A patient named Jagdish was scheduled to undergo surgery for dialysis fistula in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery, reported the media house. Manish’s father’s name is also Jagdish.

The patient was in te auto when the OT staff called Jagdish’s name. Manish’s father raised his hand and he was taken to the operation theatre without verifying his identity. . Bitably, Manish’s father has been paralysed for the past 10 years. Due to this, he could reveal his identity.

Doctors administered anaesthesia to Manish’s father. However, after the initial process of surgery, doctors realised that there was a mix-up. They then put stitches and left Jagdish near Manish’s ward.
