The web series ‘Kafir’, released in 2019, was highly appreciated by the audience. Now this series is getting stream again on Zee5 as a film. In this story, Dia Mirza plays a Pakistani woman ‘Cans’, who accidentally crosses India’s border and is considered to be a terrorist. But in reality she is an innocent woman, who only becomes a victim of the situation. This story is inspired by a true event and is full of emotions.
The character who shook Diya
Dia Mirza shared her experiences about the film in an interview recently. He said that during this project he had to shoot a rape scene which was very difficult for him emotionally. After the scene, she started trembling and vomiting. This experience was not only physically tired, but also mentally to break them.
According to him, when you feel the pain of a character and live its truth, that experience becomes extremely deep and sensitive to an artist.

It was not just acting for Canaz’s role to play the role of Canaz. Even during the shooting in the beautiful plains of Himachal, the depth and sensitivity of the scene was so high that the beauty of the location could not relax them.
He completed the 360 -page shooting in 45 days, with a average of 15 to 18 minutes of content daily. Despite such a heavy work pressure, Diya considers it to be one of the most satisfactory experiences of her career.
The true story shook the inside
Diya shared that the series is inspired by the story of a real woman, and she used to constantly think of the same woman during the shooting. He said that when she thought about the struggle and suffering of the woman, her hair used to stand up. This character had become a symbol of a woman’s pain, emotion and compulsion, not just a role.
Feeling of becoming a mother, right on screen
In an important aspect of this film, Dia Mirza got a feeling through her character Cans that she had never felt before. He told that while playing this character, she had experience like becoming a mother for the first time, whereas in real life she was not a mother at that time.
The affection, security and Mamta that he felt towards Cans, added them to a new depth.
‘Kafir’ is not just a film, a message
‘Kafir’ is a story that goes beyond boundaries, religion and politics and talks about humanity and compassion. This shows how an innocent woman only suffers for years due to her identity and conditions, but still does not give up hope.
