Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and his wife Cristina ended their 30-year marriage back in December last year. The report from Barcelona-based newspaper Sport stated that the couple parted ways during their time in Spain. Friends and family have also been warned not to reveal more information about the divorce.

The main reason behind the separation is believed to be Guardiola’s managerial commitments in various countries over the past five years. Guardiola had recently signed a new two-year contract with the Premier League champions, committing to the club until 2027.

The report further states that the relationship between Guardiola and his wife is still “cordial, stable and friendly” despite deciding to part ways. They have been living apart for nearly five years after Cristina moved back to Barcelona to run her fashion company, Serra Claret. However, the family (including three kids) spent Christmas together despite the separation.

About Pep Guardiola’s marriage

The couple, first met in 1994 when Guardiola was modelling for designer Antonio Miro in Serra’s shop. After staying together for 20 years, they finally tied the knot in 2014 near Barcelona. They have three children together: Maria, 24, Marius, 22, and Valentina, 17.

What’s next for Pep Guardiola?

Guardiola and Manchester City will hope to return to winning ways after a small break as they play Brentford in the upcoming fixture. City are currently sixth in the Premier League table and would like to continue their winning momentum and try to finish inside top four.
