Aurangabad: District Collector Urges Equal Participation Of Women As ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ Scheme Completes Decade |
People were administered the oath of ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ during a function organized at the district collectorate to mark the completion of the decade of the union government’s ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ scheme on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district collector Dilip Swami said, “Today, women are working in all fields. However, the participation of women in all sectors should be equal to men. Only then will the country achieve progress.” He added that the decreased female birth rate is a matter of concern and everyone should resolve the issue with commitment.
Swami further said, “Sex determination tests, female foeticide, and child marriage are social problems. There are laws against these activities, but they can be stopped completely only with the active participation of society. There is a grave need to create awareness about gender equality in society. The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign should resonate with every individual, and the government machinery should implement it at the grassroots level,” he said.
Suvarna Jadhav made an introductory speech while Reshma Chimandre proposed a vote of thanks.
Resident deputy district collector Vinod Khirolkar, women and child development district programme officer Suvarna Jadhav, project officer Reshma Chimandre, and others were present.
