Recently there has been a huge controversy over the caste survey in Telangana. Opposition parties, especially Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and BJP have targeted the Congress government regarding the disturbances in the survey.

After this criticism, the state government has now decided to conduct a survey again between 16 and 28 February. However, this survey will be done only for 3.1 percent of families who could not join the previous caste calculations.

The accuracy and reliability of the recently released ethnic data in Telangana is being questioned, especially over the alleged decline in the population of backward castes.

Why did the Congress government decide to survey again?

Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced this decision and said,

“3.1% of families have said that they want to give their details again. For them, the state government has decided to re -count again from 16 to 28 February. A toll-free number will also be released for the remaining families, where they can update their information. ”

People can also update their information through online, toll-free number or divisional offices.

After the survey, the data will be reviewed by the State Cabinet in the first week of March.

Government’s big announcement on caste reservation

The Telangana government has planned to introduce a new bill in the state assembly to provide 42% reservation in local body elections, moving beyond the issue of caste survey.

  • Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Wednesday that the bill will be introduced during the budget session in March.
  • After the bill is passed, it will be sent to the Central Government for approval.
  • The Congress government will also try to achieve political consent.

But the opposition is also calling it a motivated step.

BRS and BJP make serious allegations against the government

BRS allegations: The population of backward castes is being deliberately shown less

BRS leader Ravula Sridhar Reddy said in a scathing attack on the Congress government,

“There is no transparency in this caste survey. This is completely defective. They have covered only 96.9% of families and many families have been excluded from the survey. ”
