Bollywood actress Disha Patani performed at the opening ceremony of the 18th season of the Indian Premier League at Kolkata’s iconic Eden Gardens on Saturday. After singer Shreya Ghoshal’s soulful performance, Disha was the second act of the night and kickstarted her dance performance with her song Do You Love Me from the 2020 film Baaghi 3, which starred Tiger Shroff.

However, netizens were left disappointed with her dance moves, as she was barely seen dancing and was mostly just moving. Adding to the criticism, Disha’s performance was cut short midway. However, it was later resumed, and she continued dancing to her songs. The actress was seen in a shimmery bralette that featured a plunging neckline, with a matching mini skirt, and gloves.

A user wrote, “They cut the performance of Disha Patani half way.” Another user said, “One of the worst IPL Ceremony ever. Zero Energy , Zero performance. When you bring Disha Patani you can’t expect good things. Absolute joke.”

A third user added, “Thanks @StarSportsIndia cut the performance of Disha Patani half way finish good by karan aujla.”

Here’s how netizens reacted:

After Disha, Punjabi singer Karan Aujla took the stage and performed hit tracks including Wavy, Softly, and Tauba Tauba. He also performed his recently released track Tell Me with OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, where Disha joined him on stage.

The opening ceremony began with KKR owner Shah Rukh Khan delivering a heartfelt speech to kick off IPL 2025, marking the 18-year anniversary of the tournament, where he delivered his iconic line from Pathaan, “Party Pathaan ke ghar pe rakhoge toh mehmaan Nawaazi ke liye Pathaan toh aayega. Aur pataakhe bhi laayega. So, let’s begin the celebration like never before.”

Meanwhile, the final of the 18th edition of the IPL is scheduled to take place on May 25, 2025.

The opening match will be between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.
