Actress Mouni Roy recently opened up about the rise of AI-generated deepfake content and the toxic culture of online trolling, calling it a growing menace that deeply affects public figures. During the promotions of her upcoming film The Bhootnii, Mouni opened up about how negativity on social media platforms has impacted her personally and emotionally.

“I will be very honest here. Initially, when I read those comments, to date, sometimes you see those AI videos, it’s so cringe. Imagine how you feel like looking at somebody else. When I saw my face distorted over other people’s bodies, it was disgusting. Sometimes you feel like, where are these people going? What’s the aim? Because all you are collecting are people’s curses and bad wishes. And nobody can wish well for somebody who is doing that,” said Mouni, during an interview with Zoom.

The actress, known for her performances in Naagin, Gold, and Brahmastra, also shared how her reaction to hate and offensive content has evolved over the years.

“Initially, I used to go to their profile and block them because I didn’t understand social media. Now, I feel like a pitiful person. I feel like you should pray for them,” she said.

Despite the negativity, Mouni said she continues to receive unwavering love and support from her fans. “I cannot negate the love we get from the fans and the fact that people actually want to watch you there, no matter how much hate you’re given. I genuinely feel that section of the internet has become a nasty place, and genuinely concerned where it’s heading. They are writing so badly and vicious things about people, just get a life,” she added.

On the work front, Mouni is gearing up for the release of The Bhootnii. In the film, she will be seen playing a ghost named Mohabbat.

Directed by Siddhant Kumar Sachdev, The Bhootnii belongs to the horror action-comedy genre and it also stars Sanjay Dutt, Palak Tiwari, Sunny Singh, Beyounick, and Aasif Khan in key roles.

The film is set to hit the silver screens on May 1, 2025. It will clash with Ajay Devgn and Riteish Deshmukh’s Raid 2.
