During the road inauguration in Kharagpur, West Bengal, there was a fierce debate between former BJP MP Dilip Ghosh and protesting women. During this, controversial comments and threats were also made between Ghosh and women. After this incident, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has criticized him.
What is the whole matter?
Dilip Ghosh, who arrived for the inauguration of a newly constructed concrete road in ward number 6, was besieged by some local women and questioned why he did not visit the region when he was an MP. The women asked, “Where were you till now? When you were an MP, we have never seen you. Now our councilor Pradeep Sarkar built a road, you have come for the inauguration?”
Dilip Ghosh’s answer and controversy
Dilip Ghosh described these protesters as a TMC supporter and replied in an aggressive tone, “I have given money for this road, this is not your father’s money! Go and ask Pradeep Sarkar!”
On this, a woman turned back and said, “Why are you bringing our father in the middle? You were an MP!” On this, Ghosh made a controversial comment and said, “I will take the name of your fourteen generations!”
Seeing the growing tension, Ghosh threatened the protesters and said, “Don’t shout like this, otherwise I will strangle you!”
Women protested, Ghosh’s car surrounded
During the incident, the women surrounded Ghosh’s car, which further worsened the situation. BJP workers and security personnel tried to calm the atmosphere, but the protest increased further.
The Kharagpur Town police station reached the spot and controlled the situation, after which Ghosh had to leave.
TMC protests, demand for apology
Pradeep Sarkar, the TMC councilor of ward number 6 and former MLA from Kharagpur, strongly condemned the language and behavior of Ghosh. He said, “He is no longer an MP, then why did he go to inaugurate the road? He insulted the name of the women’s father, which is extremely condemnable.”
The government further said, “They called the protesting women ‘an employee of Rs 500’. They should immediately apologize, otherwise wherever they go, you will have to face protest.”
Ghosh’s answer: “TMC was a sponsored performance”
Dilip Ghosh, in a conversation with reporters, alleged that it was a TMC -backed demonstration and the protesters were called by paying money. Ghosh said, “These people were performing in a greed of 500 rupees. People who make noise, I will take their father’s name.”
He also claimed that this road was constructed with the sanctioned amount from the MP fund, so they had gone to inaugurate. Ghosh accused the TMC that many of his other projects were also being stopped for political reasons.
