Indore (Madhya Pradesh): Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) is all set to undergo a major digital and infrastructural transformation with an investment of Rs 20 crore under Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (PM-USHA) scheme. The university will enhance its facilities to provide state-of-the-art academic and digital infrastructure for students on UTD campus and to those studying in affiliated colleges.
One of the major upgrades will be introduction of 40 smart classrooms across various teaching departments and institutes on the UTD campus. Each department is expected to receive at least one smart classroom, whereas larger departments like Institute of Management Studies (IMS), International Institute of Professional Studies (IIPS), Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), School of Economics and School of Commerce are likely to get two smart classrooms each. “These smart classrooms will be equipped with high-speed internet, interactive digital boards and advanced teaching tools ensuring students have access to modern learning techniques and resources,” said registrar Ajay Verma.
New IT & central instrumentation centres to boost research and efficiency
The university is also set to establish a new cutting-edge IT Centre and a Central Instrumental Centre. The new IT infrastructure will enhance the university’s digital capabilities making the official website faster and more efficient resulting in students accessing results and academic services at a much higher speed.
Central Instrumentationl Center will house common research instruments accessible to faculty and students across different departments boosting interdisciplinary research and innovation. Besides, the university will purchase at least 200 advanced computers to enhance the efficiency of academic and administrative work. DAVV will also construct a new building for School of Data Science and Forecasting.
Faster WiFi and Hostel Revamp
In a move to improve student life, the university will also upgrade the WiFi network not only in the UTD campus but also in hostels. This will ensure high-speed internet access aiding students in their studies and research. The university will also renovate Bafana Hostel, which has been in lying in tatters for 15 years.
Project timeline and execution
The university has completed the tender process and construction activities are expected to begin in March or April. Once completed, these developments will enhance DAVV’s academic and research environment making it one of the most technologically advanced universities in the state.
