Did You Know? March Was Pune’s Hottest In 10 Years With A 3°C Rise Since 2014 | ANI

With the year’s first rainfall on April 1, bringing much respite from the heat, this year’s March was the hottest in the past ten years for Punekars, with a mean maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius.

With no significant rain activity, the maximum temperature surpassed 30 degrees Celsius on most days in Mardch in Pune.

Pune recorded the city’s hottest day on March 27, as Lohegaon recorded a maximum temperature of 41.4°C, while Shivajinagar recorded 39 degrees Celsius on March 30 and 39.2 degrees Celsius on March 31. The average maximum temperature at Shivajinagar stood at 37.6 degrees Celsius, which is two degrees higher than the normal March average. Apart from the daytime temperature, the nights were warmer than last year.

The India Meteorological Department’s data suggests that Shivajinagar recorded an all-time high March temperature of 42.8 degrees Celsius on March 28, 1892. As per the data, the maximum temperatures of March in the past 10 years are as follows:

According to the IMD forecast, the maximum temperature throughout the month was two degrees Celsius above normal, while the minimum temperature was 1.5 degrees above normal. However, despite the heat, the city did not experience an official heatwave, as Shivajinagar did not cross 40 degrees Celsius even once.

Even the month of April is expected to remain above average, but for the next few days, cloudy weather is expected. A thunderstorm near Mahabaleshwar and some rain clouds southeast of Pune city are also forecasted, according to IMD radar.
