Fact Check: Did A Muslim Family Attack A Hindu Family In Pune’s Bhavani Peth For Posting Against Pakistan? | Video Screengrabs
A video of a freestyle fight from Pune’s Bhavani Peth is being circulated widely on social media. Users are claiming that a Muslim family attacked a Hindu family for posting against Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam terrorist attack.
One user wrote, “A Hindu family in Pune was viciously attacked by jihadis—just for speaking out against Pakistan. And not a single Hindu stepped up to defend them. This is the harsh reality.” Another user wrote, “A Hindu family was attacked in Pune—simply for speaking out against Pakistan. Imagine that. In your own country, you can’t voice your opinion about a hostile nation. Because if you do, you offend the delicate sensibilities of those whose loyalties lie elsewhere.”
However, according to the Pune Police, the fight occurred over honking, and a 29-year-old auto-rickshaw driver was arrested in the case. According to the police, the incident occurred around 4pm on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Shoaib Umar Saiyyad, a resident of Kashiwadi.
The police said that the altercation began when Karan Mehta, who was riding a motorcycle, encountered Saiyyad’s autorickshaw blocking the road while goods were being unloaded. When Mehta honked, a heated argument broke out between the two. Soon after, Saiyyad and his associates attacked Mehta and his family members — including his brother sister and their uncle.
