Mahendra Singh Dhoni will once again be seen playing for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2025. Even after retiring from international cricket in 2019, Dhoni is continuously showing his power in the IPL and is wreaking havoc on the bowlers even at the age of 43.

CSK retained him for Rs 4 crore before the 2025 mega auction. In IPL 2024, Dhoni scored 161 runs in 14 matches, including 13 sixes. Now, for the 2025 season, he is fiercely practicing sixes in the camp.

Harbhajan Singh and Akash Chopra have said big things about Dhoni’s fitness and his cricketing understanding.

Harbhajan Singh appreciated Dhoni’s fitness and dedication

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh told in a conversation on ESPNcricinfo that Dhoni is working hard than young players even at this age.

Harbhajan said about Dhoni:

“He was fantastic last year. I got very fit for a friend’s wedding.

“He still dominates the bowlers. He dominated the international and domestic bowlers in the previous season.”

“Dhoni practices continuously for 2-3 months. He first arrives in the nets and batting for hours.

“He is the first person to come to the field and the last person to visit makes him different from the rest of the players.”

Akash Chopra appreciated Dhoni’s honesty and cricketing understanding

Former cricketer Akash Chopra insisted on Dhoni’s way of playing and his clarity.

Akash Chopra said:

“Dhoni is very honest about his game.

“We all wonder if he is batting so well, then why does he not play above? But Dhoni knows that he cannot bat for 40 balls.”

“Sometimes it is equally important to know what you cannot do, and this makes them special.”

How will Dhoni be ‘game changer’ in IPL 2025?

Dhoni is still capable of playing big shots.
His experience for the team is invaluable.
His strike rate against the bowlers remains excellent.
There is no break of his strategy and captaincy in the IPL.

Will Dhoni play after 2025?

Seeing Dhoni’s fitness and his training, it seems that he can play even after 2025.
Recently, he said that “As long as the body supports, I will keep playing.”
