Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh): After Mahakal Lok was formed, thousands of people from all over the country are coming to the city for darshan. Most of the people search online for information about accommodation, sightseeing and food before coming to Ujjain.
Cyber thugs are taking advantage of this. The crooks have created fake websites in the name of many hotels, lodges and dharamshalas including Bhakt Niwas, through which they are committing fraud with people who search Google.
One Ashish, resident of Alwar (Rajasthan), had to come to Ujjain for Mahakal Darshan. He searched for hotels in Ujjain on Google. He got information and mobile numbers of Shri Mahakaleshwar Bhakt Niwas on Google. He was impressed by the name Bhakt Niwas and called on the number given on the site.
The person who received the call gave information about rooms and rent of Bhakt Niwas. When Ashish discussed about booking a room for March 10 and 11, the person on the other side asked him to transfer the advance amount online.
As per his instructions, Ashish Bakhara transferred Rs 3700 online. When he reached Ujjain on March 10 and went to Bhakt Niwas, the manager informed him that the room was not booked. Ashish showed the screenshot to the manager. The manager told him that they do not have any website.
Online fraudsters have created fake websites and they are the ones who commit fraud. Ashish reached Mahakal police station and registered a complaint. TI Narendra Singh Parihar said that online fraudsters have created fake websites not only in the name of Mahakaleshwar Bhakt Niwas but also in the name of famous hotels around the temple, which are cheating people searching for hotels online in the name of booking rooms.
In the last 3 months, more than 30 people have fallen prey to this type of fraud and lost thousands of rupees in the name of Bhakt Niwas. With the help of cyber cell, police have shut down the fake website named Bhakt Niwas 5 times so far, but fraudsters created another website with the same name.
