MP January 1 Weather Updates: Dense Fog Envelops Bhopal, Indore; Cold Waves & Cold Days Predicted For Over 20 Days This Month | Representative Image
Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The first day of New Year (January 1, 2025) witnessed a dense fog, early in the morning, in various cities of Madhya Pradesh, including Bhopal, Indore and Ujjain. As per the weather department, the visibility was reduced in the cities to 100 meters.
Also, January is expected to bring intense cold conditions with cold waves and cold days. The weather department predicts cold waves for 20-22 days this month.

Dense fog is was witnessed in districts such as Bhopal, Gwalior, Sheopur, Morena, Bhind, Shivpuri, Datia, Neemuch, Mandsaur, Agar-Malwa, Rajgarh, Sehore, Raisen, Vidisha, Sagar, Niwari, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Jabalpur, Panna, Satna, Rewa, Mauganj, Sidhi, Singrauli, Umaria, Shahdol, Dindori, Katni, and Anuppur. Cold waves are expected in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Rajgarh, Raisen, Tikamgarh, Chhatarpur, Panna, Jabalpur, and Rewa.

Northern regions of Madhya Pradesh, including Gwalior, Chambal, and Ujjain divisions, are expected to experience cold-day conditions this month. Fog will cover half of the state during the first three days of January. Some districts will experience cold waves.
At present, it is snowing in Jammu, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Ladakh which will result in an increase in the chills in Madhya Pradesh. As the snow melts, cold northern winds will blow into the state, keeping the weather cold throughout January.

Cold waves are likely in Neemuch, Mandsaur, Jabalpur, Panna, and Rewa.
Madhya Pradesh witnessed rain and hail storms in late December in over 45 districts, including Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, and Ujjain.Due to the rains, the cold has intensified and is likely to continue throughout January.
