Bettiah: A grand memory ceremony was held on Tuesday at Sharma House, Sant Kabir Road, Bettiah, on the occasion of the 96th death anniversary of Pandit Rajkumar Shukla, the leading fighter of Champaran Satyagraha. The program was organized under the auspices of Pandit Rajkumar Shukla Memorial Committee under the chairmanship of the chairman of the committee, Ravindra Kumar Sharma.
The ceremony began with a wreath on the picture of Pandit Shukla ji. The speakers in his address recalled his leadership and contribution to his patriotism, especially Champaran Satyagraha.
On this occasion, the committee and the people present unanimously demanded that Pandit Rajkumar Shukla be honored with Bharat Ratna. Along with this, there was also a demand for installing their statues in Patna, Bettiah and their ancestral villages Satwaria, the establishment of the Smriti Museum in the name of Shukla ji in Patna and Bettiah and the naming of Chanpatia railway station in his name.
The ceremony was addressed by several speakers including Madan Mohan Ojha, Ashish Kumar Sharma, Pratap Rao, Ramanand Hazra, Amresh Kumar, Awadhesh Prasad, Vishundev Ram and paid tribute to Pandit Shukla.
