Every year before the budget there is a discussion that the amount of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi will be increased, but till now it has been limited to discussion only. This time too, before the general budget to be presented on February 1, the demand for increasing the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is gaining momentum. The Union Finance Minister is continuously discussing the budget for the financial year 2025-26 with experts and representatives from different fields. Suggestions and expectations of people from different sectors are being considered, so that economic development can be accelerated.

In the discussions so far, most of the experts have emphasized on giving tax exemption and promoting savings of the people to increase the demand for goods and services in the country. Apart from this, representatives of many organizations have also suggested giving additional benefits to the people under welfare schemes.

Possibility of increasing the honor fund to Rs 8000

According to information received from sources, farmers and MNREGA workers may get gifts in this budget. The government may plan to increase the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi from Rs 6,000 annually to Rs 8,000. This demand was made by farmer organizations last year also, but this time along with farmer organizations, experts and the industry sector have also made this suggestion. With this step, farmers will be able to get additional money, which will boost purchasing in rural areas and accelerate economic activities.

Demand for national commission for agri sector

Recently, in a meeting, the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) put forth its demands regarding many issues related to agriculture and farmers. CII said the country’s economic activities are largely dependent on agriculture and natural resources, and changes in these sectors lead to inflation, which impacts the economy. Therefore, there is a need to form a National Commission for the Agri Sector.

Demand to increase wages in MNREGA

Additionally, many industrial and labor organizations have demanded an increase in the minimum wages under MNREGA. These organizations say that the wages under MNREGA should be increased from Rs 267 per day to Rs 375 per day.

Discussion on financial and capital sector

On Thursday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a meeting with experts and representatives from the financial sector and capital markets to discuss the upcoming budget. This meeting was the seventh meeting of the Finance Minister before the budget, in which suggestions were given on issues related to financial and capital markets. The Union Finance Secretary and the Chief Economic Advisor of the Government of India and other officials were also present in this meeting.
