The Delhi High Court judge Justice Yashwant Verma, whose alleged cash was allegedly engulfed in controversies after the recovery of half -baked cash, has finally been transferred to the Allahabad High Court. A government notification released on Friday informed about his transfer.

Transfer decision and response

According to the notification issued by the Ministry of Law, President Draupadi Murmu approved the transfer of Justice Verma following the advice of Chief Justice of India (CJI). The collegium headed by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Sanjeev Khanna recommended his appointment to the Allahabad High Court on 24 March 2025.

Earlier, six High Court lawyers, including Allahabad High Court, met CJI Sanjeev Khanna and Collegium and demanded the cancellation of the transfer of Justice Verma. However, the appeal was rejected and their transfer was implemented.

Order to separate from judicial functions

Despite the transfer, CJI Sanjeev Khanna has directed the Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court to keep Justice Yashwant Verma separate from judicial work. Earlier, the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court was also ordered a similar order.

Holi night incident and investigation

The collegium of the Supreme Court, recommending the transfer of Justice Verma earlier this week, clarified that the decision was taken apart from the internal investigation into the incident of fire and alleged cash recovery in his official residence on Holi night.

The matter is still under investigation, and further action is being awaited by the judiciary and the Ministry of Law.
