As Delhi Assembly elections approach, political turmoil has intensified. While Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is trying to woo every section of the society through new schemes, the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is continuously attacking him. In this sequence, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva has written a letter to Kejriwal on the occasion of New Year, in which he has appealed to Kejriwal to “stop lying” and curb corruption.

Sachdeva’s letter: First day of 2025 and appeal for five oaths

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva regularly went to the post office to post his letter addressed to Kejriwal. He appealed to the Chief Minister to take resolutions on five important issues.

  • Stop corruption: He accused the Kejriwal government of promoting corruption.
  • Avoid false promises: Sachdeva condemned making false promises in the name of women, elderly and children.
  • Apologize on Yamuna cleaning: He asked the public to apologize on the false claims of cleaning Yamuna river.
  • Question on liquor policy: Sachdeva criticized the AAP government for promoting liquor in Delhi and demanded an apology for it.
  • Work in the interest of Delhi: He appealed to honestly fulfill promises to all sections.

BJP’s allegation: Claim of failure on 10 year rule

BJP has raised questions on the 10-year rule of the Kejriwal government and accused it of failing to fulfill its promises.

  • Criticism of women welfare schemes: Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri and Sachdeva alleged that schemes like Mahila Samman and Sanjeevani are limited to paper only and there is not enough financial support for their implementation.
  • Questions on environment and Yamuna cleaning: BJP termed the claims of cleaning Yamuna river as false and said that the government has not taken any concrete steps in this direction.

Kejriwal’s counterattack

Arvind Kejriwal rejected BJP’s allegations and defended his plans. He said that his government’s schemes have been made for the welfare of the general public and the BJP is obstructing the implementation of these schemes.

  • Claiming success of the schemes: Kejriwal, while enumerating the achievements of his government, accused the BJP of misleading the people of Delhi.
  • Sharp attack on BJP: He said that BJP itself is working to hinder the development of Delhi.

Increasing political activity in Delhi elections

Before the upcoming assembly elections in Delhi, the round of allegations and counter-allegations has intensified between political parties.

  • Aam Aadmi Party: Kejriwal is going among the public with his development schemes and free services.
  • Bharatiya Janata Party: BJP is challenging the claims of Kejriwal government and laying siege on issues like corruption, women welfare, and environment.

future election scenario

With the beginning of election campaign in Delhi, a direct contest is being seen between Aam Aadmi Party and BJP. It is clear from Sachdeva’s letter and BJP’s allegations that development versus corruption and truthfulness of promises will be the major issues in the upcoming elections.
