Delhi Capitals’ contingent congratulated KL Rahul and his wife for having a baby girl with an adorable gesture in the dressing room after their nail-biting one-wicket win over the Lucknow Super Giants on Monday in Vishakhapatnam. In a video surfaced on social media by the franchise, players and support staff were seen joyously congratulating Rahul.
The Karnataka-born cricketer had flown to Mumbai on Monday immediately, thereby missing Delhi Capitals’ first match of IPL 2025. During the match, it emerged that Rahul’s wife Athiya Shetty had given birth to a baby girl as the latter took to her Instagram account to announce it.

Meanwhile, the proceedings in Vishakhapatnam well and truly left the fans in awe as the Capitals fought tooth and nail to win the match by one wicket. Batting first, the Super Giants entertained the spectators via blazing knocks from Nicholas Pooran and Mitchell Marsh. The final two sixes off as many deliveries were integral in pushing the Super Giants’ score to 209/8.
The Super Giants had also started well with the ball, reducing the Capitals to 7/3 and 66/5 at one stage. However, the lower-order batters in Vipraj Nigam and Ashutosh Sharma brought their side back from the abyss to take them over the line in the last over.
The Capitals will next face the SunRisers Hyderabad in Vishakhapatnam on March 30.
