Spread over 25 hectares on the banks of the Yamuna River, this riverfront will be developed as a major attraction for tourists and locals. It has got the green signal from the Delhi Government and the Delhi Development Authority (DDA). It will be constructed similar to the Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad.
It is noteworthy that the Yamuna River flowing from Haryana to Delhi covers a total distance of 52 km here. At present, his condition is very bad. About 22 sewer falls directly into it. These are being closed and 22 km of Yamuna from Wazirabad to Okhla Barrage is being developed. In this context, there are plans to develop a river front near the Millennium Depot at Sarai Kale Khan.
What will be special in the revival made on 25 hectares?
- Walking and cycling track: A long walk and cycling track will be made on the banks of the river, where people will be able to do walking and fitness activities.
- Boating and water sports: Boating, kayaking and other water sports facilities will be provided on this river bank. Three new reservoirs and wetlands will be developed, which will strengthen the ecosystem of the river and help in increasing the groundwater level.
- Open Theater and Cultural Sites: An open theater will also be built here, where cultural and concerts will be organized.
- Green Strip: Keeping in mind the environmental protection, the entire river bank will be equipped with greenery. Many types of plants and flowers will be planted. A green buffer zone and a biodiversity park will also be built.
- Food Court and Cafe: Food courts and cafes will be built for local and international cuisine, where people will be able to enjoy with their family.
- Yoga and Meditation Area: A separate area will be built here for yoga and meditation, so that people can remain mentally and physically healthy.
- Sports Area for Kids: A special sports area will be created for young children, where they will be able to enjoy sports.
- Smart Street Lighting and Security: The entire area will be equipped with smart street lights and high -tech security cameras.
- Environmentally friendly design: The design of this river will be completely environmentally friendly, in which modern techniques will be used for rainwater harvesting and waste management.
- Public Plaza and View Point: Many view points will be built here, from where people will be able to see the beautiful view of the Yamuna river.
It will be built near the Riverfront Millennium Bus Depot and its design has been prepared. In the first phase of this project, areas such as Asita East and Bansera have already been opened to the public. 15,000 bamboo plants have been planted in Bansera.
