Actress Deepika Padukone is currently enjoying motherhood after welcoming her baby daughter, Dua Padukone Singh, on September 8, 2024. The actress, who stepped away from work after announcing her pregnancy in February, recently revealed that her pregnancy journey was ‘complicated.’
In an interview with Marie Clarie, Deepika shared, “I went through a lot in the eight, nine months of being pregnant and delivery.”
Deepika revealed that she and Ranveer Singh took their time in choosing a name for their baby girl, ensuring they didn’t settle for anything that didn’t feel right for her. The actress added, “I think what was more important for us was to first hold the baby in our arms, allow her to sort of see this new world she’s come into, allow her personality to start developing a little bit.”
Deepika shared that she found inspiration for her daughter’s name through poetry and music. She shared, “It felt like a beautiful summary of what she means to us and why she means what she means to us.”
Recalling the moment, Deepika shared how she texted Ranveer in the middle of the night while he was on set, asking, ‘Dua?’ He replied with a simple ‘yes,’ and that was it.
Talking about her mental health after welcoming Dua, Deepika mentioned that she has been doing okay and expressed gratitude for the people around her, who have been ‘really kind’ and ‘nice enough’ to check on her.
“I’ve been very lucky to also have that support system that’s more than happy and willing to step in whenever I need it,” added the 39-year-old actress.
On the work front, Deepika was last seen in Rohit Shetty’s Singham Again, starring Ajay Devgn, Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tiger Shroff, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in the lead.
Deepika played the role of Shakti Shetty in Singham Again. She is yet to announce her new project.
