A month after a woman’s body was discovered in a suitcase along the Mumbai-Goa highway near Pen, another gruesome incident has emerged. The body of an unidentified woman was found stuffed inside a pink trolley bag near the railway tracks close to Thakurwadi village, under the jurisdiction of Karjat Police Station in Raigad district.
The incident came into light at around 12:30 pm on Wednesday by a railway patrolling team near pole number 112/116 on the down line route of the busy Mumbai-Pune corridor. Upon noticing the suspicious suitcase, the patrol team alerted the Karjat police, who rushed to the spot.
“The deceased woman is believed to be between 28 and 32 years old. The body, had decomposed significantly. At the time of the death, the last was wearing printed pyjamas and a red T-shirt. Preliminary investigation indicates she was murdered before being stuffed into the suitcase,” police inspector Surendra Garad from Karjat police station said. As per the post mortem report, the cause of death was strangulation and there was no sexual abuse found.
According to the police, the face and head were wrapped in a plastic bag, while her hands and legs were bound with nylon rope.
In the month of March, a decomposed body of a woman found inside a black suitcase dumped near Durshet village along the Mumbai-Goa highway.
“We are verifying the missing person’s report from the police stations in Raigad and nearby districts. We are also verifying cctv footages,” PI Garad said.
