Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): A shocking case of fraud has emerged, where a deceased individual allegedly received benefits from a government scheme that never reached their family. A municipal employee and two accomplices reportedly embezzled funds meant for the deceased’s family. The case was reported under the Anjad police station area of Barwani district.
A few months ago, a local man passed away, leaving behind a minor child. Taking advantage of this vulnerable situation, three individuals- municipal employee Mahendra, along with Lokesh Parmaliya, Naveen Chauhan and Sandeep Kauder- conspired to exploit the situation.
Using forged documents, they managed to withdraw a total of Rs 2.42 lakh, which included government scheme funds. Using these forged documents, they withdrew Rs 6,000 meant for the deceased person’s last rites and also siphoned off Rs 2 lakh from the Sambal Yojana scheme.
Additionally, they embezzled Rs 36,000 in assistance funds. Instead of depositing the funds in the account of the deceased’s 18-year-old son, the accused opened a bank account in the name of the 13-year-old minor son.
They then withdrew the entire amount from the minor son’s account through multiple transactions at a kiosk. A complaint has been filed at the Anjad police station, and a case of fraud and forged document preparation has been registered against the accused. However, no arrests have been made so far.
