Legal action and dispute
- A case was registered against Dr. Shaiza in Kozhikode City Police under Section 153 of IPC.

Opposition of Congress and other organizations
The Congress has opposed this decision of NIT Calicut and warned of agitation in April. The Congress says that it is unacceptable to make such an ideology professor to Dean and it is an insult to Mahatma Gandhi’s legacy.
Dr. Shaiza is a professor in Mechanical Engineering Department and now the decision to make him a dean has launched a debate on ideology and freedom in educational institutions.
