Mumbai: Three of the eight medical students who took bath in the Winganga river in Gadchiroli district died of deep water of the river. Five students were rescued in this incident. Students who went to bathe started playing volleyball in the river and this accident happened because they did not know how deep the river water is in some places. There is an atmosphere of mourning in the Government Medical College, Gadchiroli due to this incident.

According to the report, eight medical students studying in the first year of MBBS at the Government Medical College, Gadchiroli had to bathe in the Winganga River on Saturday afternoon. When the weather was pleasant, the students started playing volleyball in the river.

During this time, due to lack of the depth of the river at some places, the students started drowning and went into deep water. Three of the eight people had already come out while two people survived drowning after a lot of effort, but Gopal Ganesh Sakhar (Chikhali), Partha Balasaheb Jadhav (Shidi) and Swapnil Uddhav Singh Shire (Sambhajinagar) drowned in the deep water of the river.

As soon as the incident was reported, the local administration and the rural police reached the spot and tried to find the three. However, rescue operations had to be stopped due to darkness as no clue could be found till late evening.

When they were searched again this morning, the bodies of the three were found in the deep water of the river. Since this area comes in Chandrapur district, the bodies of the three were sent to the government hospital in Savali for postmortem. The three students who died of drowning were very brilliant, and their families were shocked by their unexpected demise.
