Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Directorate of Public Instruction (DPI) has extended the deadline for recognition of secondary and higher secondary schools in Madhya Pradesh following protests by private school operators. The new deadline for submitting online applications for recognition is now December 10, as per orders issued by Commissioner of Public Instruction Shilpa Gupta.
The earlier deadline for applying for new recognition and renewal of recognition was 25 November. However, many schools failed to apply within this timeframe. On Thursday, a large delegation from the Private School Association gathered at the DPI office, raising slogans and demanding an extension of the deadline.
During the protest, representatives of the association met the commissioner, requesting not only an extension of the application deadline but also the resolution of other issues faced by private schools. In response, the CPI extended the deadline to December 10. As per the revised schedule, applications can be submitted through the MP Online portal until December 10.
Applications with a late fee will be accepted until December 20. After applications are submitted, a team formed by the District Education Officer (DEO) will conduct inspections of the schools applying for recognition by December 25. Recognition, as per the rules, will be granted by the divisional joint director by February 20.
