The Gujarat government took this decision during a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel. The state government decided that it would increase the dearness allowance of employees coming under the seventh and sixth pay commission.
What will be the benefit of DA growth?
The government has increased the dearness allowance of employees associated with the Seventh Pay Commission by 2 percent. At the same time, this increase will be 6 percent for employees coming under the Sixth Pay Commission. This increase will be applicable from 1 January 2025, and with this, the outstanding three months from January to March 2025 will be paid with a salary of April 2025.
How many employees will benefit?
This decision of Gujarat State Government will benefit about 4.78 lakh employees, Panchayat Services and other government officials. In addition, about 4.81 lakh pensioners and retired employees will also avail this increase.
Financial pressure on government
As a result of this increase, the financial burden on the state government will increase. The government will have to spend Rs 235 crore for payment of arrears. Along with this, the annual salary, allowance and pension are estimated to cost Rs 946 crore more.

Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel released a post on social media regarding this decision, in which he called it a step taken in honor of the employees. He said that this increase would improve the standard of living of employees and pensioners, and their hard work will be respected properly.
