How will DA Hike be decided?

Dearness allowance is fixed every month for employees and pensioners. It is determined on the basis of the Consumer Price Index for Industrial Workers (CPI-IW) of the Labor Bureau. Although Shiv Gopal Mishra, General Secretary of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation, had recently said that the CPI-IW of June 2023 came on July 31 and according to this a demand for a 4 per cent hike in DA was sought, but the government could not give anything less than 3 per cent.
