The Cyberabad police issued a notice to IAS officer and Telangana Principal Secretary of Youth Advancement, Tourism, and Culture, Smita Sabharwal, for reposting an AI-generated Ghibli image related to Kancha Gachibowli land near Hyderabad University on social media platform X.

The notice was reportedly served to the IAS officer under Section 179 of BNSS. Smita had reposted the image in question posted by the X-handle named “Hi Hyderabad” on March 31 regarding Kancha Gachibowli lands. In the picture, there are many bulldozers parked in front of Hyderabad University’s Mushroom Rock. There are also peacocks and deer in front of them.

It has been reported that Telangana police are issuing notices to all those who posted similar Ghibli images on social media platforms.

Smita confirmed the reports of a notice being issued by reposting a post by journalist Revathi, which read, “FREE SPEECH – TELANGANA MODEL! In probably a first, the police booked a case against an IAS officer for a RETWEET!”

“The Crime: She retweeted an AI-generated Ghibli image to raise her voice against the mindless bulldozing of the 400-acre land in Kancha Gachibowli. She was served notices by the Gachibowli Police under Section 179 of BNSS today. Supreme Court today raised some serious questions regarding the Telangana Congress government’s bulldozing of 100 acres of Kancha Gachibowli forest destroying the ecosystem,” the post reposted by Smita further read.
