Cyber Attacks on India: Hackers increased cyber infiltration when tension with Pakistan increases
News India Live, Digital Desk: Cyber Attacks on India , Along with increasing across the border, there has also been a significant increase in cyber attacks targeting India. Additional Director General of Police of Maharashtra State Cyber Department, the state has a nodal authority for cyber security enforcement and cyber crime investigation.
Under its policy of protecting digital security and maintaining public system, the department is constantly monitoring online platforms to identify, prevent and take action against them.
The Government of India has launched a strategic campaign in view of the recent unfortunate incident in Pahalgam. This mission, called “Operation Sindoor”, aims to ensure internal security and protect national interests.
In response to this operation, cyber elements who play hostile role across the border have started a new and unconventional way of showing aggression: “Cyber War.” Since the launch of Operation Sindoor, many important infrastructure and government websites are facing continuous cyber attacks.
These attacks include “distributed service reject” (DDOS) attacks, digital deformation campaigns and various types of attacks aimed at interrupting important public services. The main objective behind this is to deliberately obstruct administrative work and spread wrong information.
These cyber criminals are focusing not only on institutional digital assets, but also focusing on individual users’ equipment. They have started distributing files containing malicious software (malware), which are being sent as important government documents. This increases the chances of opening them by unknown users.
Once opened, these files begin unauthorized activity on users’ devices – which may threaten data theft, system monitoring, or even the entire network. This document is being incorrectly labeled as official communication, which has greatly increased the risk of infection in common citizens.
The Maharashtra Cyber Department is closely monitoring such incidents, identifying the emerging cyber threats and taking action against them. He has issued public notices from time to time to warn the citizens and has informed the concerned agencies for immediate action.
Considering the current dangerous situation, citizens have been advised to be more vigilant while interacting digitally. Special precautions should be taken before clicking unwanted links or opening an attachment obtained from an unknown source.
Such files should be downloaded or opened only after verifying the identity of the sender through official channels, even if they are label of “government documents”.
Cyber security measures include the use of updated antivirus software, regular system scans, safe login methods and two-factor authentication.
The Maharashtra State Cyber Department has reiterated its commitment to protect all citizens and public digital infrastructure.
