Noida: Liquor stores across Uttar Pradesh, saw a massive rush of customers today, due to attractive discounts being offered ahead of the March 31 deadline. With liquor contractors mandated to clear their stock before midnight on March 31, many shopkeepers launched a “Buy One, Get One Free” offer to attract customers and prevent their unsold stock from being seized by the government.

Another video surfaced from Muzaffarnagar, where a huge crowd was seen gathered at a liquor shop on the Bhopata Road. As the customers scrambled to buy discounted the bottles, chaos erupted in the area. However, shopkeepers are ensuring to clear out the old stock before the deadline. Take a look at the video here:
According to the state excise policy, any unsold alcohol after March 31 must be surrendered to the government and should not be sold in the new financial year. This prompted liquor vendors to roll out heavy discounts on liquor, leading to an unprecedented surge in the sales.
Eyewitnesses reported long lines, overcrowding, and even minor scuffles at certain locations as people rushed to stock up.
With only a few days left until the deadline, liquor stores in various cities are expected to continue witnessing heavy footfall as customers make the most of these last-minute deals.
