The Reddy Company, which currently holds the responsibility for garbage collection in the city, has indicated that it will not continue the work in the near future. The contract between the Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation and the Reddy Company will terminate at the end of February 2026. The corporation has started searching for a new company to handle garbage collection in the city. A new condition has been set for the new company, which will be required to deploy 150 more garbage collection vehicles than the existing fleet.

In 2017, the city faced a severe problem of garbage accumulation. Subsequently, the corporation appointed Reddy Company for garbage collection in 2018. Various facilities were provided to the company, including free spaces for parking vehicles at ten locations. Additionally, 50 garbage vehicles were provided at no cost. The corporation made provisions to ensure the regular payment of the company’s monthly bills.

However, the company did not review its work process, and several complaints about its operations were regularly received. The issue of wage increases for sanitary workers emerged, and the company threatened to terminate the contract. Now, as the contract is set to expire next year, efforts to select a new company for garbage collection have gained momentum. Sources suggest that the new tender to appoint a new company may be released next week.
