Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation (CSMC) has initiated a drive to recover outstanding property taxes from property owners across its jurisdiction. As a part of this drive, the CSMC sealed three shops on Wednesday for evading the property tax of more than Rs1 lakh each. The action was initiated at Manzoorpura, Melamchi Bazar and Lotakaranja under the guidance of CSMC Administrator G Srikanth and Tax Collection And Assessment Officer Aparna Thete by Zone 1 Assistant Commissioner Sanjay Suradkar and the collection team.

Shop owner Shaikh Rahimoddin Shaikh Yasoddin has a shop at Mazoorpura, and he has not paid the property taxes of Rs2,66,042. The collection team went to the shop and sealed it. Similarly, Prakash Baburao Jadhav has not paid the tax of Rs 3,54,846 to the corporation. Shah Gulab Quadri has not paid the tax of Rs 1,57,236 for his shop at Shiraz Towner in Lotakaranja. Both these shops were also sealed.

Quadri immediately gave a cheque for the outstanding amount, and his shop was unsealed. However, the two other shop owners have not yet cleared the outstanding dues.

The action was executed by Tax Inspector Avishan Maddi, Ravindr Admane, Ashok Waghmare, Amit Ragade, Baban Jadhav, Mohammad Ansari, Vivek Jadhav, Hamid Mamu and others.
