Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A four-month-old girl was crushed by a college bus after falling from her mother’s lap near Bhopal railway station on Wednesday.
Child came under rear tyre of a bus, died on the spot
According to Bajariya police station staff, the child named Diksha Kushwaha was in her mother’s lap when a college bus hit them, causing the child to fall on the road. She came under rear tyre of the vehicle and was crushed. She died on the spot while her mother Geeta received injuries on hand.
Mother left along with the child after a dispute at home
Bajariya police station incharge Jitendra Singh Gujjar told Free Press that Geeta was travelling to Bhopal from Mandideep with Diksha after a dispute with her husband, Dakhat Singh, a labourer at a factory in Mandideep.
Following the argument, Geeta left home with the child and boarded a train to Bhopal. After spending some time at railway station, she reached Habibiya Tiraha where the accident occurred.
According to TI Gujjar, when the college bus approached, the mother panicked and tried to move backward.
Bus driver flees
In the process, her hand hit the bus, causing the child to fall. The child suffered fatal injuries as the bus ran over her head. As the local residents gathered, the bus driver left the bus and fled.
The police have registered the case. Further investigation is underway. The CCTV footage from the area is being viewed to gather more details.
