Mathura (Uttar Pradesh), May 5: In a shocking incident, around two dozen monkeys were found dead under mysterious circumstances in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura on Monday (May 5). A video has surfaced on social media in which the monkeys are seen lying dead on the road and the police are seen investigating the reason behind the mysterious deaths of the innocent animals.
The incident took place near Govind Kund in the Govardhan area, where more than two dozen monkeys were killed. According to reports, a foreign national used an air gun to shoot the monkeys. The incident has left the locals and devotees in deep shock.
When people saw the dead bodies of monkeys, they immediately informed the police. The police team reached the spot and took the bodies for postmortem. The people present at the spot said that the foreign man had been living at the nearby Janki Das Ashram for some time. From there, he allegedly carried out this cruel act.
Police Investigation
As per reports from India Daily, the police initiated an investigation and the initial investigation revealed that the monkeys had wounds caused by air gun pellets, confirming that they were shot. The police have arrested the foreign national and started legal proceedings against him.
SP (Rural) Trigun Bisen said, “The dead bodies have been sent for postmortem. Further action will be taken once the report comes.”
Devotees Angry and Upset
This incident has caused sadness and anger in Mathura, a city known for its religious importance. Locals said monkeys are seen as a form of Lord Hanuman and harming them is highly offensive. People are demanding strict punishment for the accused and strong action in connection with the matter.
