CRPF jawan’s Pakistani wife case : There is a very tense atmosphere between India and Pakistan after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir. The Government of India has ordered Pakistani citizens to leave India immediately. One of the Pakistanis who left India is Meenal Khan, who was asked to leave India, but the High Court overturned the order and ruled in favor of Meenal.
Who is Meenal Khan?
Meenal Khan is a Pakistani citizen. He is married to Munir Khan, a citizen of India. Meenal of Punjab, Pakistan and Munir, a resident of Jammu, met through social media. She got married online in May 2024 after falling in love. Munir is a CRPF jawan.
Although the visa period ended, I still did not leave India.
Meenal Khan moved to Jammu on a short -term visa after marrying Munir. Although her visa ended on 22 March 2025, Meenal did not return to Pakistan. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, the Indian government canceled the visas of all Pakistanis and ordered them to be left to India by 29 April.
At the last moment, the court order came into force in favor of Meenal.
After the government’s order, Meenal Khan had prepared to leave India. She also boarded a bus that took her to the Attari-Wagah border and left. Her husband also went to the balcony to leave her. However, at the last moment his lawyer Ankur Sharma called him and told him that the High Court has banned Meenal’s exile, so Meenal no longer needs to leave India.
Why did the High Court give relief to Meenal Khan?
Meenal filed a petition against exile in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court. The court, while giving a verdict in favor of Meenal, said that the Central Government’s order applies to Pakistani citizens who have come to India to meet their relatives, while Meenal married an Indian citizen and their marriage is completely legal. Therefore they cannot be forced to leave India. With this, Meenal Attari returned to Jammu from the border.
What did Meenal Khan say on this issue?
Before relieving relief by the High Court, Meenal Khan made this statement regarding exile: ‘We have followed all the rules. After my short -term visa period ended in March, I applied for a long -term visa. We were told that the application would be approved. But after the Pahalgam attack, I am separating from my husband. Many children like me are separating from their mothers or fathers. This is inhuman. We pray to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to get justice.
There is no law against the cross -border marriage.
Meenal Khan also argued that if the citizens of India and Pakistan are married, they should be allowed to live in each other’s countries, as there is no law that stops marriage with a citizen across the border. Or make such a law that Pakistani women cannot marry Indian men. But until such a law is made, we should be allowed to live. Even before the attack in Pahalgam, I had applied to the Government of India to increase my visa.
Hundreds of citizens have crossed the border.
Since the center’s directive, 786 Pakistani citizens including 55 diplomats and their assistant employees have left India through the Attari-Wagah border in six days. 1,465 Indians who went to Pakistan have also returned to India.
Pakistani woman worries about marriage to CRPF jawan
As soon as Meenal Khan’s case came to the media, a natural question has arisen in the minds of Indians that ‘How was a CRPF jawan allowed to marry a Pakistani woman?’ Many people are doubting on social media that this marriage may be a “marriage trap” spread by Pakistan. “These and other Pakistani women like them marry Indian men only to spy on India.”
Some people even questioned that despite the end of the Indian visa period, the woman does not go to Pakistan proves that she is not afraid of anyone. It can reach up to the top. People are demanding an inquiry in this direction.
