Ranchi, 14 November (HS). The second phase of Jharkhand Assembly elections is to be held on November 20. During this period, 528 candidates are in the fray. Out of 528 candidates, 148 candidates have criminal cases registered against them. Whereas serious criminal cases are registered against 122 candidates.
This has been revealed in the ADR report. According to the report, cases of atrocities on women are registered against 12 candidates. Three candidates have murder-related cases against them. While cases of attempt to murder are registered against 34 candidates. 55 women candidates are in the fray in the second phase of elections. The age limit of 220 candidates in this stage is between 25 to 40 years. The age limit of 238 candidates is between 41 to 60 years. Whereas the age limit of 64 candidates is between 61 to 80 years.
According to ADR report, 38 candidates have assets worth more than Rs 5 crore. 42 candidates have assets worth two to five crores. 130 candidates have assets ranging from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 2 crore. 176 candidates have assets ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 50 lakh. The number of candidates with assets less than Rs 10 lakh is 136. 23 BJP candidates in the second phase of elections are crorepatis. 18 JMM candidates are crorepatis. 10 candidates of Congress, five of AJSU, four of BSP and two of RJD are crorepatis. Among the candidates trying their luck in the second phase, one is illiterate, 34 are literate, 5th pass four, 8th pass 36, 10th pass 91, 12th pass 116, graduate 127, graduate professional 29, PG pass 73, doctorate five and diploma holder six candidates. Akil Akhtar, who is contesting from Pakur on Samajwadi Party ticket, has assets worth Rs 402 crore 99 lakh 51 thousand 816. Niranjan Rai, who is contesting as an independent candidate at second position, has assets worth Rs 137 crore 36 lakh, 62 thousand 527 rupees. At third position, Azad Samaj Party candidate Mohammad D.sh has assets worth Rs 32 crore, 10 lakh, 22 thousand 694.
