Padmakar Shivalkar dies : The Indian team is performing brilliantly in the Champions Trophy. Now bad news has come out for Indian cricket fans. Mumbai veteran spinner Padmakar Shivalkar has passed away. Padmakar Shivalkar was 84 years old. He died in Mumbai on 3 March due to old age. Padmakar Shivalkar played domestic cricket for Mumbai for many years and took more than 500 wickets.

Padmakar Shivalkar’s career

Padmakar Shivalkar was a left -arm spin bowler. He made his Ranji Trophy debut at the age of 22 and kept playing till the age of 48. Shivalkar played a total of 124 first class matches between 1961 and 1988 and took 589 wickets at an average of 19.69. During this, he did a great feat for taking 5 wickets 42 times and 10 wickets 13 times. Despite his great performance in domestic cricket, he never played international cricket for the Indian team. Shivalkar played 12 List A matches, in which he took 16 wickets. In 2017, BCCI awarded him the CK Naidu ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award.

Gavaskar mourns

The great Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar expressed his condolences on the death of Padmakar Shivalkar. He said, ‘This is a very sad news. In a short time, Mumbai cricket has lost two of its experienced players, Milind and now Padmakar, who were the architects of many victories. Earlier on February 19, former Mumbai captain and chief selector Milind Rege died and now Padmakar Shivalkar has said goodbye to the world.

MCA Also mourned

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Ajinkya Naik expressed his condolences on the death of Shivalkar. He said, ‘Mumbai cricket has lost a true veteran today. Padmakar Shivalkar Sir’s contribution to the sports will always be remembered. His dedication, skills and his influence on Mumbai cricket is unique. His death has caused irreparable damage to the cricket world. His soul should get peace. ‘
