Indore (Madhya Pradesh):  A conman duped the credit manager of a finance company of Rs 47.50 lakh on the pretext of providing a good return through investment in AI-based trading, a police official said here on Saturday.

The conman used to show fake profit on a website to the complainant but the latter could not withdraw his money.

According to DCP (crime) Rajesh Kumar Tripathi, the complainant said that he had received an advertisement on his mobile phone. At first, he ignored it but later showed interest in investment through the advertisement.

After he shared his mobile number and the email id, he received a call from an unidentified person, who informed the complainant that he could get a good return through investment and would receive a 50 percent bonus on his investment.

Then, he invested Rs 16861 and received a confirmation. He later received an id and password of the company and found his amount on the screen so he trusted the website. The complainant transferred money several times to the account given by the accused. When he tried to withdraw the money, the accused told him to invest more money.

A total of Rs 47.50 lakh was transferred by the complainant but each time he tried to withdraw the money, the conman stopped him with different excuses.

When the complainant talked to the manager of the said company, he was informed that he could earn by receiving money from other people and converting it into dollars using crypto currency platforms. The complainant also received money from some people and transferred the same to the bank account given by the accused but was not given any commission for it.

Later, he lodged a complaint on the National Cybercrime Reporting Portal (NCRP) portal. The crime branch has registered a case against unidentified people under various sections of BNS and held the bank accounts used for receiving money.
