Ranchi, 19 November (HS). Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan met and interacted with the sisters in Ranchi, Jharkhand on Tuesday. During this, the sisters asked many questions to Shivraj Singh regarding women empowerment and the Union Minister answered the sisters’ questions in detail.
During this, Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that, advancement of women, better education of daughters, development of sisters and bringing change in the lives of sisters and daughters is the mission of my life. Shivraj said that we are running a campaign to make every sister a millionaire through self-help groups. Lakhpati Didi means each sister’s monthly income is more than Rs 10 thousand and the annual income is more than Rs 1 lakh. Our resolve is to remove darkness from the lives of the sisters and bring in a new light.
While communicating with the sisters, Chauhan said that since childhood, I had seen in and around my village that there was discrimination between sons and daughters. If a son was born, there was celebration, and if a daughter was born, the mother would face shame. Apart from this, I had also seen the problems in the lives of the sisters. Since then there was a feeling in my mind that something had to be done for my sisters and daughters. I used to preach that if there is a daughter, there is tomorrow. If you don’t save your daughter, where will you get your daughter-in-law?
Chauhan said that in order to provide better and free education to the daughters, we have decided in Madhya Pradesh that education from first to PG will be made free. Poor children are not able to pay the fees charged in private colleges, medical colleges, engineering colleges. Many children get selected in MBBS, Engineering through various examinations but due to huge fees, they are not able to take the admission. Therefore, we decided in Madhya Pradesh that we will also pay the fees of our son and daughter.
