Madhya Pradesh: Cracks Emerge In New CC Road, Locals Allege Poor Quality In Chhatarpur | FP Photo
Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): Cracks have appeared in a newly constructed cement concrete (CC) road in Ward No. 23’s Shankar Nagar Colony, just a week after its completion.
Built at a cost of Rs 20 lakh from Gaund Baba intersection to SVN School, the road is already showing signs of poor construction, prompting public outrage.
Local residents have alleged that the contractor used gravel instead of sand and reduced the required amount of cement, leading to compromised quality.
Additionally, the road’s thickness is reportedly inconsistent ranging from 4 to 8 inches causing ballast to emerge and sections to start breaking apart. The road has remained closed for the past 10 days, forcing residents to take a 700-meter detour through unpaved and inconvenient routes.
Residents also reported irregularities during construction, accusing the contractor of negligence. Municipal Engineer Ankit Arajaria acknowledged the issue, stating that the cracks caused by the pinboard would be repaired soon.
Municipal CMO Madhuri Sharma assured a thorough investigation and promised action if any lapses are found.
Chhatarpur Collector Parth Jaiswal stated, “The complaint regarding poor construction materials will be investigated, and strict action will be taken against those found guilty.”
