Nearly eight years after a harrowing robbery in Paris, Kim Kardashian returned to the city this week -this time, to testify in court. Making headlines for more than just her testimony, Kim turned the courthouse steps into a runway, dressed in vintage couture and adorned with millions in sparkling jewels.
Kim appeared at the French courthouse in a striking ensemble from designer John Galliano’s Spring 1995 collection. The outfit, a tailored skirt suit, featured dramatic padded shoulders, a plunging neckline, and a fitted silhouette that accentuated her figure. The classic look was paired with sleek accessories: a twisted updo, feathered brows, and a bronzed glam makeup palette with blushed cheeks and a glossy brown lip. She completed the look with chic Alaia sunglasses, adding a touch of mystery to her appearance.
Diamonds that sparkled louder than words
But it was Kim’s jewelry that truly turned heads. Estimated at well over a million dollars, her accessories included a jaw-dropping $1.5 million Samer Halimeh diamond necklace. According to jewellry expert and influencer Julia Chafe, the necklace boasted 52 carats of diamonds-with a 10.13-carat pear-shaped center stone and an additional 40 carats making up the rest.
“Diamond nerds, that’s for you,” Chafe noted, highlighting the necklace’s top-tier E-F color grade and VVS clarity. She even joked that Kim’s choice of jewels was “the ultimate slap in the face”-a bold statement, given the nature of the trial.
In addition to the necklace, Kim wore an $8,100 Briony Raymond diamond ear cuff, a sparkling anklet reportedly gifted to her by daughter North for Mother’s Day, and a massive diamond ring that Page Six revealed was purchased using insurance money from the 2016 heist. At 22 carats, the ring is even larger than the 20-carat one stolen in the robbery.
What was the 2016 robbery about?
Kim Kardashian was the victim of a high-profile armed robbery in October 2016 while staying in a luxury hotel during Paris Fashion Week. Masked men reportedly tied her up and held her at gunpoint, fleeing with more than $9 million worth of jewellery. The traumatic incident sent shockwaves through the fashion and entertainment worlds, prompting increased conversations around celebrity security and social media oversharing.
