Hyderabad, January 7: In a shocking incident, a couple committed suicide by setting their car on fire on the Ghanpur Outer Ring Service Road in Telangana’s Ghatkesar. The couple identified as Parvatham Sriram and a minor girl, died by suicide by setting themselves ablaze in the car in the middle of the road. The video of the car burning into flames has surfaced on social media. The shocking incident took place in front of eyewitnesses, who recounted the horrifying scene.
As per reports, Parvatham Sriram who is a resident of Bibinagar in Nalgonda district, was a worker at a cycle shop which is located in Narapally. Sriram met the girl while he was working at the cycle shop. They both became close friends and reportedly fell in love with each other.
About The Incident
The incident was reportedly witnessed by the farmers working at the field nearby. They said that they were planting paddy in the field when they noticed a car on fire. They further said that since there was no water pipeline nearby, they tried to extinguish the flames using buckets of water. Some motorists also stopped to help, using tree branches to beat down the fire, but it had already spread too much. They were unable to douse the fire which led to the death of the couple.
The eyewitness further said that the young man ran out of the car who was engulfed in flames and collapsed on the road. Meanwhile, the girl who was sitting in the front seat of the car was completely burnt. The witness said that she turned to ashes right before their eyes. The fire was so intense that they couldn’t get close to the car.
Suicide Note Reveals Harassment
The have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter. The investigation revealed that the couple took this extreme step due to harassment from a man named Chintu, also known as Mahesh. According to their suicide note, Chintu had taken obscene photos and videos of the couple and used them to blackmail them. He threatened to reveal their relationship to their families unless they paid him money.
Sriram reportedly paid Chintu ₹1.35 lakh but was continuously harassed for more. Unable to meet Chintu’s escalating demands and with no other options, the couple decided to end their lives.
Police Investigation
The police have registered a case against Chintu and have formed a search team to nab the accused into the matter.
