Washington: New Jersey black senator Democrat Corey Booker gave a 25 -hour and five -minute speech in the Senate against President Donald Trump, which broke the seven decades of record set up in the 1957 by Storm Thermand, the longest speech senator in the US. Corey Booker started his speech at 6:59 pm on Monday and finished on Tuesday at 8:05 pm. Kori’s speech was praised by former Vice President Kamla Harris and other Democratic Senators, while Republican Senators described it as a manner of publicity.
According to the Senate rules, no senator can take rest during speech, or use toilets.
In his speech, Kori said that Trump has caused heavy damage to the foundation of American democracy by taking various decisions in just 71 days of assuming the President of America. Democrat Senator Corey Booker said, “I am standing here tonight because I honestly believe that our country is in crisis.”
According to Senate rules, the senator should always stand and speak continuously while giving speech. Sitting during speech is prohibited, and senators cannot take rest during their speech, or cannot use toilets. Booker strictly followed all these rules and set a record of the longest speech. The Booker had fasted for several days to give this long speech, and he stopped drinking any fluid before the speech. Although no one was present in the Senate at night, the Booker stood alone and gave his speech. At this time only the Speaker, some clerk and some security personnel were present. Senate Staff and American Capital Police were requested to be present in the House during this speech. Questions were asked by fellow Democrats to give Booker to breathe time during his speech.
Booker bent on the podium to avoid fatigue and moved his weight continuously from one leg to the other. In his marathon speech, Booker gave a long speech covering Trump’s foreign policy, his plan to cut healthcare, criticism of Alone Musk’s Dogcoin operations and racism, voting rights and economic inequality.
