New Delhi: As the Delhi Assembly Elections are drawing closer, the political atmosphere has started to heat up in the national capital territory (NCT). The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had launched a fresh attack on the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) over alleged irregularities in the renovation of the Delhi Chief Minister’s residence, calling its “Sheesh Mahal”. Slamming AAP’s national convenor, the saffron party posed several questions.

In the latest video released by the BJP of the Delhi CM’s residence, the party said that Kejriwal came to power “by lying and deceiving”. The saffron party said that when the AAP’s national convenor became the CM, he promised not to take any bungalow, but built the “Sheesh Mahal” by looting people. The BJP further alleged that the CM’s house was built at the time when the entire union territory was suffering from corona.

“Kejriwal, who came to power by lying and deceiving, had said on entering politics that he will not take a bungalow, but will live in a two-room house. He had distributed affidavits. The same big fraud built a den of loot called Sheesh Mahal as soon as he came to power. That too when Delhi, plagued by a pandemic like Corona, was struggling for every breath. During such a pandemic, Kejriwal was busy gathering things for his debauchery in Sheeshmahal. AAP should also tell where did that affidavit go?” the BJP’s FDelhi unit said in its X post.

The saffron party posted several questions to the AAP and Kejriwal over the “Sheesh Mahal”:

– Why did Atishi not take possession of the house for three months? “ED and CBI are investigating Sheesh Mahal, the den of corruption. The condition for allotment of the house was that Atishi would cooperate with the investigating agencies. But she deliberately did not take possession of the house so that the house remains closed and the work of the investigating agencies is obstructed.,” the BJP said.

– Why was the Sheesh Mahal not open for media for so long?

– When Delhi was battling an epidemic like Corona, why were you getting the Sheesh Mahal constructed?

– Where did the items mentioned in PWD’s inventory come from?

– Who stole the toilet? Is Kejriwal using it now in his Feroze Shah Road house?

– How was payment made for items procured separately, apart from PWD’s inventory?

– Why did the tender have to be changed repeatedly?

– Why was the amount paid more than the tender amount?

– Where did the money come from to install mini bars, automatic doors, silk carpets and other items worth lakhs and crores?

BJP’s Tweet:

In the video, the BJP alleged that the entire cost of building the CM residence house was Rs 52 crore. In the video, the BJP claimed that curtains in the “Sheesh Mahal” cost Rs one crore, while, the doors of the house are of Rs 70 lakh and TVs worth Rs 65 lakh were also installed in CM’s residence. Notably, the residence was built at the time when Kejriwal was the Chief Minister of Delhi. He vacated the bungalow after resigning from the CM post last year.

The BJP has focused a big part of its assembly election campaign around these allegations, dubbing the bungalow “Sheesh Mahal”.

The saffron party’s Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva has claimed that valuable items, including a “golden commode”, were missing after the bungalow was vacated by Kejriwal.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced the schedule for the Delhi Assembly Elections. The polls for the 70-member Delhi Assembly will be held in a single phase on February 5 and the votes will be counted on February 8. The national capital territory will witness a fierce electoral battle between the AAP, the BJP and the Congress.
