In the controversy over the funeral of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, BJP has given a befitting reply to Congress’s allegations. BJP termed Rahul Gandhi’s allegations as false and misleading and said that Congress has displayed cheap politics on this issue.
BJP’s statement: “Rahul Gandhi’s allegations are baseless”
BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra said in the press conference:
“The level of Indian politics has fallen because of Rahul Gandhi. The Congress party did not stop doing politics even after the death of the former Prime Minister.”
Patra also said that the decision to build a memorial commensurate with the stature and dignity of Manmohan Singh had already been taken, and the same had been informed to the Congress and his family.
“It is important to follow the procedure for making the memorial”
Sambit Patra clarified that the process of making the memorial takes time, but the last rites cannot wait. He said:
“To say that he has been insulted by cremating him at Nigambodh Ghat is completely wrong. BJP does not believe in such petty politics.”
“Congress did the biggest insult to Manmohan Singh”
Taking aim at the Congress, the BJP spokesperson said that the biggest insult to Dr. Manmohan Singh was done by the Congress during his tenure as the Prime Minister. He referred to the incident of Rahul Gandhi when he publicly tore a bill passed by the cabinet.
“This was a display of arrogance by the Congress, which showed the world that Rahul Gandhi considers himself above all else.”
Rahul Gandhi’s allegation
Earlier, Rahul Gandhi had accused the BJP of insulting Manmohan Singh, saying:
“Dr. The dignity of Manmohan Singh, who was the first Prime Minister of the Sikh community and during whose tenure the country became an economic superpower, was violated by cremating him at Nigambodh Ghat. The last rites of all former Prime Ministers have been performed at authorized mausoleums.”
“The party does not discriminate in BJP politics.”
Rejecting Congress’s allegations, BJP said that Dr. Manmohan Singh has been the Prime Minister of the country and BJP respects his dignity. Patra said:
“We do not believe in which party he belonged to. BJP does not do this kind of politics.”
Reason for cremation at Nigambodh Ghat
BJP clarified that performing the last rites at Nigambodh Ghat is not an insult of any kind. This decision was taken to avoid delay in the last rites.
