Indore: Contractor Alleges Police Assault, Extortion; Probe Initiated Following CCTV Evidence | Representational Image
Indore (Madhya Pradesh): A contractor of a factory was allegedly beaten by two policemen posted at Banganga police station and they allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 from him. However, the police said that the contractor and his colleagues were caught under the influence of liquor during a checking drive and had misbehaved with the policemen. The investigation is on into the case to know the truth.
Mukesh Chand Gupta, a resident of Bihar, informed media persons that he is employed as a contractor in a company on Sanwer Road. He along with his colleagues came out of a restaurant after dinner when two policemen named Brijmohan Sharma and Bharat Jat posted at Banganga police station demanded money from him.
Gupta alleged that the policemen had also made a phone call to him a few days ago demanding money. When he refused to give money, the policemen took his colleagues to the police station and released them after thrashing them there. The incident in which the policemen thrashed him is also captured on CCTV. Additional CP (Law and Order) Amit Singh said that the complainant didn’t approach him but when he came to know of the incident, he talked with DCP Zone -3, who informed that the contractor and his colleagues were found under the influence of liquor a few days ago and had misbehaved with the policemen.
Singh further said that ACP of their circle was instructed to investigate the case and to submit the report as soon as possible. Also, the CCTVs of the spot and the police station are also being examined. Action would be taken accordingly only after receiving the probe report, Singh added.
