Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Police probe in the blast that occurred at a flat in the Legacy Plaza building in MP’s Gwalior has revealed some startling facts. According to the probe, the two injured were ‘devar-bhabhi’ and full-time content creators. They used to make reels for Instagram.
To create one such reel, the duo opened up a flammable gas cylinder to create special effects in the content piece. Unaware of the gas being flammable, one of the two switched on a halogen bulb, leading to the blast.
According to investigators, the explosion, which rocked the seven-story building on Wednesday, was triggered when the duo opened a gas cylinder inside a sealed room. They then switched on a halogen lamp. The sudden ignition led to a massive blast, causing significant structural damage to the building and nearby properties.
Authorities have now declared parts of the building unsafe, with cracks in walls and shattered glass raising concerns for residents. Structural engineers have been called in to assess whether the building remains habitable.
Legal action was triggered against the duo.
On the other hand, police are preparing to file charges under multiple sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS) for reckless endangerment and damage to public property. Officials stated that additional charges could be considered, given the extent of destruction caused. Both victims remain in critical condition at the hospital.
